Enyimba Beat Pillars to Move Top of Glo Premier League

Enyimba International FC are back at the top of the Glo Premier League table after their 1-0 win over champions Kano Pillars in a Match Day 24 encounter.

Enyimba now top the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 45 points from 24 games, two points above Sunshine Stars who lost 1-0 at Dolphins.

Ifeanyi George converted from the penalty spot for the Peoples Elephants’ match-winner in the 28th minute after the referee adjudged a Pillars defender to have handled the ball in the box.

Bala Mohammed was played in on goal early on in Aba but shot wide from the edge of the goal area.

Pillars goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai rushed out of his goal area to beat Peter Onyekachi to the ball on 19 minutes.

Kingsley Sokari was presented with an opportunity to open scores for the hosts on 24 minutes but shot wide.

The defeat was Mohammed Baba Ganaru’s first on his second coming as the Kano club’s coach. Nigeria Under-20 defender Zarahadeen Bello debuted for Pillars as a stoppage-time substitute.
