Nigeria senior women’s national team are out of the fourth round qualifying fixtures for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro following a 2-1 defeat away to Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Falcons suffered the defeat in a second leg third qualifying round match in Bata on Sunday; thus, exiting the preliminary competition 3-2 on aggregate scores.
Ngozi Okobi opened scoring for the reigning African champions in the 12th minute but the Nzalang Nacional equalised to force extra-time and then sealed victory.
Nigeria women, who last qualified for the Women’s Football Tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, drew the first leg 1-1 in Abuja on 18 July.
Equatorial Guinea will play either South Africa or Kenya in the fourth round of the qualifiers.
