Lagos Assembly Calls For FERMA Probe

fermaThe Lagos State House of Assembly has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to institute a proper probe into the activities and funding of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA in the state in the past eight years.

The Assembly decried agency’s failure to carry out its responsibilities in the state, noting that despite the billions of naira provided to the agency to maintain federal roads in the former nation’s capital, it was the state government that actually maintained the roads.

The lawmakers also asked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to demand the refund of money the state spent on the maintenance of federal roads in the state between 2007 and 2015.

The motion, which was moved by Yishawu Olusegun representing Eti-Osa II Constituency, noted that the state government through the Public Works Corporation, had carried out several rehabilitation works on 17 federal roads in the state.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House.
