IGP Lied About My Rescue, My Family Paid Ransom Before I Was Released – Falae

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae, has revealed that his family paid ransom to his abductors before he was freed on Thursday, Vanguard reports, rubbishing the claim by the Police that the elder statesman was released without paying ransom.

According to Falae, the kidnappers only freed him after they received payment. He added that he trekked for 15 kilometres before he was picked up by the police in Owo, several kilometres from Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Falae who was kidnapped on his birthday regained freedom four days after he was kidnapped. He was escorted home by the police.

Commenting on Falae’s freedom, IGP Solomon Arase said in an interview: “The important thing now is that Baba Falae is back home safe and sound according to the mandate given to me by the President”. He said that no ransom was paid and that nobody had been arrested.
