Israel Omowa, a police officer attached to the Ondo state police command has been stabbed to death by his wife Mrs Wumi Omowa.
According to Daily Post, the couple lived in a residence in Olu, on Ilesa-Owo highway in Akure, the state capital.
Omowa who was in his early 30s had an altercation with Wumi which reportedly degenerated into a big quarrel. The wife took a knife and stabbed the police inspector in the neck.
The reason for the quarrel was unknown but Omowa passed away from injuries sustained from the knife attack.
Femi Joseph, the police public relations officer of the state confirmed the incidence. He said Wumi rushed her bleeding husband to a private hospital after the stabbing but he eventually died.
He added that Mrs. Omowa has been arrested by the police.
In a related incidence involving police tragedy, a police officer in Yobe allegedly killed two senior officers and shot himself afterwards. It was reported that the officer was suffering from mental disorder when he picked his gun and committed the murder and suicide.
