Wilberforce Igiri

The mother of Wilberforce Igiri, running mate to Timipre Sylva in the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State, Ebifieghe Igiri, has regained her freedom from kidnappers.

The Bayelsa Police Command spokesperson, Asinim Butswat, told newsmen in Yenagoa on Tuesday that the 105-year-old woman was released by her captors on November 9 at about 10.00 p.m.

“She was released at Ayama Waterside, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa; she is hale and hearty and has since been reunited with her family.

“Efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductors; investigation is ongoing”, he said.

Recall that Mrs. Igiri was kidnapped from her hometown, Foropa, Southern-Ijaw Local government Area, Bayelsa on October 29.
