Ban Of Naira Debit Cards Overseas: Punish Politicians, Not Ordinary Nigerians, Ben Bruce Tells FG, CBN

Ben Murray-BruceThe Senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Ben Murray-Bruce, has urged the Federal government to reconsider its decision to ban use of Naira debit cards overseas.

The ‘common sense’ senator, in a series of tweets with the hashtag #PunishpoliticiansnotNigerians, pointed out that the policy would impact negatively on ordinary Nigerians with genuine reasons to use the Naira debit card for foreign transactions.

It would be recalled that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday ordered commercial banks to disable debit and credits cards for customers’ use outside the country.
