Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday night abducted the octogenarian mother of the pioneer Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo at gun point.
Mrs. Cecilia Aguariavwodo was abducted by over four gunmen at her residence in Okpare-Olomu town, Ughelli South council area of Delta State.
It was learnt that the kidnappers shot sporadically into the air for several minutes before they finally broke into Madam Aguariavwodo’s apartment to grab her before whisking her away to an unknown destination.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at about 11pm on Tuesday.
Senator Aguariavwodo was the immediate past senator representing Delta Central and Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on infrastructure.
