Armed Herdsmen Kill APC Youth Leader, Others In Benue

Gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen yesterday abducted and killed two persons including the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tarka local government area of Benue State.

This came just as armed assailants shot and killed a notorious criminal on the Gboko-Ushongo road, near Gboko town in Gboko LGA of the state.

Pandemonium broke out yesterday in Wannune, the headquarters Tarka LGA when hundreds of youths barricaded the Tarka-Makurdi expressway to protest the killing of party youth leader and several others, by gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen.

The visibly angry youths blocked the road in Senator George Akume’s home town, burnt tyres, held placards as they chant songs calling for the end in killings.

Commuters plying the busy highway were stranded, had their vehicles parked as heavy traffic gridlock went on for more than 10hours.

It was gathered that the APC youth leader identified as Tor Kasaar was abducted by some Fulani militia at Mbaichor area. His mutilated corpse was later found in the bush by security operatives and deposited at St Chris mortuary Wannune while that of the notorious criminal and friend were kept in the morgue at General hospital Gboko.

LEADERSHIP further gathered that the party youth leader was killed by the herdsmen in the night on Sunday while the notorious criminal was gunned down by armed bandit at about between 6 and 7am yesterday.

The murdered notorious criminal, Msusgh Tyavyar popularly known as Pastor was recently granted amnesty initiated by Governor Ortom administration.

Pastor was shot and killed alongside his friend while driving in a Honda accord vehicle. The gunmen flagged their car tyres before shooting them on the head.

However, the protesting youths in Tarka LGA refused to open the blocked road and demanded Governor Samuel Ortom to address them.
