Pandemonium has reportedly broken loose in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State over alleged shooting of peaceful protesters by the armed squad of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

According to THE AUTHORITY, the unarmed civilians were protesting weeks of power failure and increased monthly electricity tariff at the zonal office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, on Tuesday, when the NSCDC official on duty allegedly opened fire in a bid to disperse the protesters.

The report states that one person is currently in critical condition as a result of the sporadic shooting by the NSCDC official.
