Oyo APC Disowns Lawmaker Over “Embarrassing” Letter To Buhari

APC-Logo1The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissociated itself from a publication credited to one of its members, Olusegun Olaleye, in which he wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over some salient issues of national importance.
Olaleye, representing Ibadan North Constituency ll in the State House of Assembly reportedly sponsored an advertorial titled: “Mr President, Time to Put the APC House in Order”.
Reacting to the publication in a statement on Friday, the Oyo APC explained that the lawmaker was merely expressing his personal opinion and that of his paymasters as it did not have the blessing of the leadership and members of the party in the state.
The statement, which was signed by the Oyo APC’s Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, said “Olaleye did not act on behalf of the party, the state house of assembly or his constituents as he might have taken the step to embarrass the state chapter of the party as well as the good people and government of the Pacesetter State.
“The whole content of the publication is not only an affront to the constituted authorities, but a misplaced attempt to play to the gallery and score unmerited political point, or act a script prepared by a suspected group of enemies within.
“Therefore, the entire publication stands condemned and we use this opportunity to tender our unreserved apology to President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Executive Committee of our great party, and all patriotic Nigerians, who desire genuine change as being championed by the present administration”.
