Mass Sack In Banks ‘Pure Sabotage’ – APC

George Moghalu-APCThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the recent gale of mass retrenchment in the financial and other sectors as a sabotage and ploy by those it called disgruntled elements, to blackmail and discredit the federal government.
Due to the mass retrenchment especially in banks in the last one week, the federal government had to issue a directive suspending the exercise.
Following a sack of 200 workers by one of the banks after the directive was issued, the federal government threatened to revoke the license of any other bank or telecommunication company, which were reportedly also compiling names of staff to sack, that disregards the suspension order.
It appeared the latest arm-twisting ploy of the federal government worked because the Bankers Committee on Thursday after its meeting in Abuja, agreed to put on hold any further move to sack more workers.
However, the National Auditor of the APC, Chief George Moghalu, told reporters yesterday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja that there was a deliberate plan orchestrated by some enemies of the APC government to create a situation of uncertainty and unnecessary frustration of the system.
“Government has told them to stay action on the sack of staff or face the consequences. I don’t know why the banks should be sacking, we need to ask what has happened to the profit they have been amassing in the past?
“They ought to have been prepared for the rainy day. People cannot be manipulated to create the situation of uncertainty and unnecessary frustration for the system.
“As far as I am concerned, what is happening now is pure sabotage. Nigerians should still trust the APC government”, Moghalu pleaded.
The APC chieftain also refused the push by reporters to give a scorecard of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in its first year, saying he will be ready with his assessment only after the administration has spent two years.
