A car bomb rammed into the gates of Somalia’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Mogadishu.
Gunmen are said to have stormed the building as witnesses reported hearing two loud explosions and an ongoing attack.
Al-Shabaab is said to have claimed responsibility for the attack.
Abdiasis Abu Musab, al Shabaab’s military operations spokesman, told Reuters, “a fighter rammed a suicide car bomb into CID then other armed fighters stormed inside. We are now fighting inside the CID building.“
