A former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has donated the sum of N30million cash to traders whose goods were destroyed in the last Sunday’s fire disaster at the Sokoto Old Market.
The late night inferno, which lasted for about three hours before it was put out by men of the fire service, traders and good Samaritans, gutted most parts of the market, famous for sale of clothing materials, foot wears, jewelries and exchange of foreign currencies.

While Governor Aminu Tambuwal expressed deep sympathy with the traders and promised government’s assistance, Mr. Bafarawa pledged to give N30million to those affected by the tragedy.
In fulfillment of that pledge, the ex-governor and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, yesterday disbursed the cash to traders at the market.
The Sokoto PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, disbursed the cash on behalf of the former governor to the affected traders.
