In the past week, thousands of Nigerians have raised the sum of $100,000 for the social media driven #SaveMayowa campaign.
Mayowa Ahmed, who suffers from Ovarian cancer reportedly needed the sum for a surgery to save her life and her family sought the intervention of concerned Nigerians. In curious circumstances, sources now claim that although Mayowa suffers Ovarian cancer, her condition had progressed to a stage four and that contrary to reports, doctors in LUTH did not recommend for her to be flown abroad for treatment.
Linda Ikeji Blog reports that actress, Toyin Aimakhu who got in on the campaign is currently with police officers at the LUTH premises.
Although doctors had simply advised the Ahmed’s to simply take her home and prepare for the worst, they allegedly decided to cash in on the situation.
