Ex-Militants Urge President Buhari To Investigate Amnesty Programme

Militants

Former Niger Delta militants that are part of the third phase of the Federal Government Amnesty Programme have asked the administration of President Muhammadu Buharito commence an immediate investigation into the programme to bring those found culpable in shortchanging and diversion of their dues to book.

In an interview with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the leader of the third-phase ex-militants, Comrade Wisdom Rufus made this call.

He said even though the third phase dues had been approved during former president Goodluck Jonathan’s regime it has since been stalled and not implemented.

According to him the first and second phase has been implemented but they haven’t heard anything since the approval of the third phase.

It would be recalled that the militants agreed to a ceasefire last week with the federal government to end years of unrest in the oil rich Niger Delta region.
