On this day in 2014;Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo  commended the Federal and Lagos state governments for curbing  the spread of the Ebola virus in the country.

The former President stated this  at the opening ceremony of the 11th Biennial International Conference on “Drugs, Alcohol and Society in Africa” organized by the African Centre for Research and Information on substance  Abuse (CRISA).

Also on this day in 2013; An illegal orphanage home in the heart of Egbeda in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, was shut down by Lagos State government officials who also rescued 25 children from the facility.

The Office of the Public Defender, OPD, an arm of the state Ministry of Justice, which carried out the rescue mission from the purported ‘Home for Orphans and Less Privileged’ said apart from keeping the children illegally, the venue was also used for child trafficking.

And on this day in 2013;THE Federal Government concluded plans to establish a referral veterinary hospital in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to tackle serious animal diseases across the country and other African countries.

This was disclosed to Vanguard by the Registrar, Veterinary Council of Nigeria, VCN, Dr. Markus Avong, who said the establishment of the hospital will enhance performance and productivity of veterinarians, and will reduce animal diseases.
