The 27-year-old is hopeful the Hornets will see Mikel’s unfortunate situation at Chelsea as an opportunity to bring him in to join him in the January.

Mikel is yet to play a game under new coach of the Blues, Antonio Conte.

Ighalo spoke out ahead of next month’s transfer window as his club’s manager Walter Mazzarri has already intimated that he will be looking to beef up several areas of his current squad.

The former Julius Berger man feels that if the Italian is intending to bring in midfield reinforcements, then he should consider a move for Mikel who is currently out in the cold at Stamford Bridge.

Ighalo told a fan caller while on Fanzone on SuperSport: “I will like it if Mikel join me at Watford.

He is my captain at the national team. Apart from that he is a very good player, very talented.

I have played with him and against him, he is a very good player. There is no team in the Premier League that will not want to have such a player.

I am happy I have played with him so I will be very happy to have him in my team.”

Mikel however who is believed to be looking for a move away in January to secure first-team action has already been linked with clubs in Turkey, France and China.

He is even rumoured to be attracting interest from his former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
