Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district has revealed that late MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 presidential election once told him that the Emir of Zazzau was close to him than anyone else in the north.

He made this known in a post on his facebook wall. The lawmaker said, Abiola personally told him years back that the Emir was the only confidant he has in the whole of the northern region of the country, stating that the late politician’s relationship with the Emir was personal.

“In the whole of Northern Nigeria, the closest to Abiola and his close confidant was HRH, Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.”

“Their relationship was not political, but personal, a truth, I was told by the President-elect, Chief MKO Abiola.”

Shehu Sani was among those who fought the military to a standstill for denying late politician, MKO Abiola the mandate given to him by the people of Nigeria in the 1993 presidential election.

The election which was adjudged the fairest was annulled by the then Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
