While speaking shorly after Super Eagles were defeated 1-0 defeat by Czech Republic in Wednesday’s final warm-up match in Austria before the 2018 World Cup, coach Gernot Rohr has played down his side defeat.

Chelsea defender, Tomas Kalas who played on loan at Fulham last season tucked in a rebound in the 25th minute of the encounter to hand Czech Republic 1-0 victory.

The Nigerian national team coach, Rohr who watched his side slump to another defeat, his fourth since he took charge of the team two years ago, admitted after the defeat that his lads are not ready to face Croatia.

Rohr was quoted on the official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles saying; “We’ve nine days to be ready for our first match against Croatia, as at today we are not ready.

“I am not sad because of this result, the result that matters will be in Russia.”

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will open their World Cup campaign with a tie against Croatia on June 16 before other clashes with Iceland and Argentina in Group D.

Rohr will be hoping his young Eagles eclipse the country’s best showing at the global showpiece which is Round of 16 finishes at the 1994 and 2014 editions.
