Yuletide: IGP Orders 24-Hour Security Arrangement, Patrols Nationwide

Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has ordered 24-hour security arrangements and high visibility patrols in all the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This was made known in a statement signed on Thursday, December 24 by the Force spokesperson, Frank Mba.

The IGP reportedly issued the directives to all Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of Zonal and State Commands nationwide to ensure a peaceful celebration.

In the same vein, the Police Chief directed the Strategic Officers to ensure deployment of intelligence and other operational assets of the Force particularly on major highways, airports, railway stations, recreational centers, motor – parks, places of worship, financial institutions, amongst others.

The IGP also urged citizens to adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines and instructions as they celebrate the Christmas and new year seasons.

Police personnel deployed on patrol or other duties during this period have also been warned against indiscipline, intimidation of citizens, and other vices, with a warning that any defaulter will be dealt with accordingly.
