Gunmen Abduct Travellers On Benin-Owo Expressway

Bandits Abduct Swiss National, Nigerian In Ogun

Gunmen have abducted scores of travellers on the Benin-Owo Expressway in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Sources claimed there were more than 32 victims, but the exact number is yet to be ascertained.
The victims were reportedly traveling in a coaster bus from Benin to Ondo State, where they went for burial ritual, according to one of the sources.

A relation of one of the victims said, “But on getting to Ifon area, the hoodlums ambushed and whisked all the occupants of the vehicle into the bush. All the occupants of the vehicle were kidnapped since yesterday (Saturday) and nobody has heard anything about them since then”.

The Ondo Police Command’s spokesman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, acknowledged the event but claimed she was unable to determine how many people had been kidnapped.

“Our men and other security agencies are already in the forest to rescue the victims unhurt, while an investigation into the incident has commenced”, Odunlami added.
