The senator for Anambra South senatorial district, Ifeanyi Ubah, was on Sunday attacked by gunmen while traveling in a convoy.
According to reports, the attack happened in Anambra state’s Nkwo Enugu Ukwu LGA with the shootout leaving police officers and possibly several of the senator’s staff dead.
The state police command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that although specifics of the incident were still hazy, investigations had started.
“The details are still sketchy. Yes, there was a shooting incident at Enugu-Ukwu involving Senator Ifeanyi Ubah this evening,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Echeng Echeng personally led police operatives to the scene. The situation is being monitored, further details shall be communicated,” he disclosed.
