Ebubeagu Security Operatives Reportedly Destroyed APGA Billboard Prior to the General Election

Hardly a couple of weeks after the destruction of the hoarding of the APGA’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2023 elections, the militia group was accused. They were charged of a recent attack on 5th September 2022 in Okposi and Ugwulangwu communities of Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Prof. Benard Odoh and Dr. Nkata Chukwu are candidates of the APGA for the position aforementioned. However, even in this chaotic scenario, it’s not hard to try your luck on Betking old mobile app download.

According to an eye-witness, Collins Agwu, around 7:30 pm, a squad of young boys numbering around seven, stomped the court area where he and other followers of APGA were trying to install billboards of the candidates. Moreover, he said that suspects who were disguised in Ebubeagu security outfits, prevented them from mounting hoardings as the court area belongs to the government. The APGA leader and supporters then moved to another place inside Okposi Roundabout but again faced the confrontation by the Ebubeagu members armed with pump action rifles. The leader of the group, Dickson Okire (nicknamed Daggazy) and another person recognised as Sambo asked if APGA had paid to the local authority the signage fee. APGA supporters had quickly replied that they were unaware of such payment made by political parties for their own billboard spaces at local government in recent times. After the heated conversation, they started shooting in the air aimlessly, threatening that everyone must crumple. Some of the APGA followers sustained injuries and Ebubeagu officials who came in three Sienna vehicles, seized and ripped up the flex and left the place, still shooting in barbaric manner. After a few minutes, the same group vandalised and injured APGA supporters in Ugwulangwu for the same. Agwu has assured that he will testify to the council as a law abiding countryman.

The opposition has accused that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), is exploiting the Ebubeagu to terrorise APGA candidates and followers.

Charles Otu, the Special Assistant (SA) to Prof. Benard Odoh, stated the latest attack on campaign posters of Odoh took place consecutively at Ugwulangwu and Okposi under Ohaozara local government.

Odoh has condemned these sudden strikes on APGA leaders and campaigners across the state. He also stated that the Umahi-led APC government in Ebonyi is more interested in war than exchange of dialogues for 2023’s general election. Reportedly, no arrest has been made yet in the incident of weeks old Abakaliki.

When approached, a Special Security Consultant to the state government said that the attack had nothing to do with Ebubeagu. He also elaborated that mounting campaign posters and flex in public without proper authorisation is illegal and it is a sign of disobedience of APGA to the state law. He will not allow any political party mentioning APC, AGPA, PDP and others to violate regulations and run freely. According to him, these statements by the AGPA leaders were completely baseless and next time, they should try to be innovative with their false accusations.
