Obi To Give Account Of 8-Year Stewardship Today

peter-obi-360x225As part of activities lined up towards his eventual hand over of power to the incoming administration in Anambra State on March 17, 2014, Governor Peter Obi will today in Awka, the state capital, present the score card for his eight years in office.

Aptly tagged “End of Tenure Report” to the people of Anambra State, the event will take place at the Women Development Center, Awka.

The event, which will be broadcast live on private television stations, Silverbird and AIT from 10.30am, will be chaired by former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku even as other Nigerians from all walks of life are expected to grace the occasion.

A statement issued to reporters yesterday by the chairman of the Anambra State Elders Council, Dr Dozie Ikedife, said the event was organized by the Council to enable the outgoing governor render an account of his stewardship to the people who voted him into office.

The statement said: “Today’s event will offer him, the governor, the opportunity to answer to his real masters, clarify his approach to governance, his developmental priorities and the overall impact of his tenure.

“It will also offer him the chance to talk about some critical decisions he took as the governor and the reasons that informed them. We also want to place it on record that this is yet another noble precedent being set by Mr Obi. He is telling every public office holder that there will always be a day of reckoning”.
