Controversial Islamic Banking: Sharia Council Threatens War

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria in response to Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN’s refusal of the Islamic banking being introduced into the country has threatened war. The SCSN, in a statement made on Sunday in Kaduna said that it would mobilise Muslims in the country to go to war with Christians over the ongoing Islamic banking controversy.

The SCSN President, Dr. Ibrahim Datti Ahmad warned that Muslims would no longer allow others blackmail them with regards to the commencement of the interest free banking in September and they would resist any attempt by the Christian Association of Nigeria to frustrate the implementation of the system in the country.

  1. Jct: Thomas 95: Jesus said: If you have money, do not lend it out at interet. Better you should give it to someone who can’t pay you back. That’s exactly the same thing Mohammed said. Both great prophets denounced interest on money, usury. And here we have the shameful spectacle of the Christian Association of Nigeria being against obeying their dictates! I obey.

  2. @ inosend. Because for 2000 years, Christians abandoned their obligation to establish a financial system that will eschew interest as commande in the bible. So, when the Muslim came 600 years after Christianity, they simply instituted it. And they are entitled to achieve it now. Those so-called Christians objecting to the Shariah-compliant banking system should bow their heads in utter shame. Do you get it, or you are still lost?
