GUNMEN stormed ever-busy and popular Ama J. K located in Douglas Road, Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Thursday and abducted the about 70-year-old shop owner, Mr. Charles Uwakwe, from Mbieri in Mbaitoli Council, whisking him away to an unknown destination.
It incident occurred about 7 p.m, two days after the new state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Christopher Dega, had assured that such manner of crime wave had been checked by his men.
This is also coming on the heels of the abduction of former Speaker of the state House of Assembly in his Aboh Mbaise country home as he was driving in.
The kidnappers are said to be demanding over N50 million and threatening to kill him.
As at press time, the kidnappers were yet to demand any ransom for the release of the pharmacy owner.
Police is said to be trying to track them down.
