Pastor WF Kumuyi Reacts to Okene Deeper Life Church Killings

Founder of the Deeper Life Bible Church Pastor Kumuyi, has expressed deep sadness and sorrow at the attack on a Deeper Life church in Okene, Kogi State in which not less than 20 people were left dead.

According to Pastor Kumuyi, “It is hard to reconcile that peace-loving people, sitting in their church, and listening to Bible Study were gunned down in cold blood by people they had done nothing to provoke.” He went ahead to describe the attack as “not only wicked, but utterly premeditated.”

The clergy pointed out that killings and destruction have been going on particularly in the northern part of the country for too long, and each time they occurred, the usual condemnations are made, but thereafter, the people are left without any assurance of their security and safety. He then added that no nation can continue this way.

He however urged the government to come to terms with the fact that a large number of people are being sent to their early graves, even as law enforcement agents seem unable to provide the required protection for all law-abiding citizens. He also urged more prayers by Christians across the nation, adding that when Christians pray, the Almighty God answers.

In his words: “If the body of Christians would rise up and pray, and the law enforcement agencies would intensify their efforts to combat this creeping instability, the killings and destruction in our country would be stemmed.” He then sent his condolences to the families of all those who were killed in the attack, and prayed for the quick recovery of all those injured by the gunmen. He assured them that he will continue to pray for them.

  2. There is no pastor in Nigeria that I have respected more than Rev Kumuyi. But in this case I dissagre with him that christian have to only go on their knees to solve this demonic problems. Instead I recommends that we should copy what i call “the stand on your right value” of the Israelites. If Israelites have folded their hands and pretended to be praying while the uncircumcised philistines were forming up all possible troubles, by now christianity would have been totally forgotten. I hereby recommends that to anyone that is associated with the names and body of christ must wake up to this responsibility to fight back all the infidels in every nook and corners of nigereia. The churches must now start to spend the monies to buy arms and weapons to fight against unbelievers. The holy bible says that ” since the time of John the baptist, the kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence and the violence taketh it by force. The church must not fold their hands and watch unbelievers razing down churches and killing christian faithfull. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

  6. Not only the president can do something about Nigeria killings. I believe church of God has a lot to do as well. Let the church unite and start revival. Let the general oversier s stop wearing suit and expensive shoes. Let them put on jeans nd T shirt. Let them start a spiritual warfare. Enough of slumber. We should arise and fight for freedom. Not only when one’s church is being attacked. Talk of how many Christian that has died before this time.

  8. A very rigorous investigation has to be carried out to reveal whoever is responsible for the killing of innocent Nigerians. If actual boko haram exists, who is the back bone behind their mission if not PDP government? I pray to God to disgrace and degrade whoever is responsible for this insurgency Nigeria is currently experience.

  10. @Emmanuel, vageance belongs to God, and God says we’re to pray for our enemies as well as those that persecute us! Let’s put everything into God’s hand and allow God to fight for us. As for BOKO HARAM. what’s their hidden agenders tha made them to start killing innocent souls all over the nation? God, rescue your children from this!

  11. I have great respect for men of God, because I am also a man of God. I totally agreed with Emmanuel Ebhojieaye’s opinion in his posting above.
    The Nigerian Christians totally lost their “National Voice” when Arch-Bishop Benson Idahosa died. I still remembered 1993 Zango Kataf crises in Kaduna. He came to Kaduna and addressed the Christians. And his words changed the Christian’s approach to the crises. And the rest is history.
    Thank God for Papa Kumuyi who has made effort to encourage us now to pray about this crises at last. May be God told him to react now because it concerns his church members. I am surprised that he has just reacted.
    Anyway, we’re still waiting for the reactions of other men of God on this matter. They should rise up and condemn this ungodly behaviour whenever innocent Christians are martyred in Nigeria wether the attack is on their church or not. Please, Nigerian Christians, let us be united in Him to defend our God given human rights to life and to worship. We have prayed enough..

    I believe that the Poter[ GOD] is not sleeping, he is only giving them time to finish before strike or fight & when he does ,it will be terrible 4 them.Christians,hold yr peace cos the battle is 4 him & him alone wil fight it.You don’t need to join in his battle!

When king Nebuchadnezar,oppressed the people of God and exalted himself,the Lord brought him down,when the medo-persian empire took over,the Lord brought them down,when Alexander the great took over,he was later brought down,and the people of God kept on waxing stronger,now we are facing boko haram,but the bible says they shall be broken without hand.we are not the first to suffer persecution,it started even in the time of Jesus,(yeah and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution),and also we know that the weapons of our warfare are not canal but are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.the battle is of the Lord,(the Lord shall fight 4 u and ye shall hold ur peace).my prayer is dat anyone who is killed because he is a christian,God should prepare dat person to make heaven.WE ARE IN D LAST DAYS,REPENT B4 IT IS TOO LATE.HE THAT HAS AN EAR LET HIM HEAR WHAT D SPIRIT IS SAYING TO D CHURCHES.

NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE A BOLD STEP INVITING SOME EMMAM FROM SAUDI ARABIANS TO SPEAK ON THE MATTER IMMEDIATELY , NIGERIA HAS ONE OF THE BEST SOLUTIONS TO RELIGION IN THIS UNIVERSAL WORLD AND WE CAN NOT KEEP QUIET HEARING THAT ONE PARTICULAR RELIGION IS KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE IN NIGERIA AND WE KEEP QUIET OVER IT FOR HOW LONG ??? IT IS LONG PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR HOW TO CAUSE TROUBLE TO THE INNOCENT NIGERIANS UNDER THE AUSPICES OF RELIGION.
