Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang has blamed the crisis in the state on the activities of some elders who want the situation to persist for their selfish interest.
Jang, while speaking at the launching of the Special Task Force Emergency Telephone Numbers and Common Prayer/Salutation Handbills to further tame the crisis in the state, said some elders wanted the unfortunate situation to continue with the aim of making themselves relevant at the expense of the younger ones.
According to him, most elders in the state are not ready to relinquish their positions to the younger ones and therefore continue to fan the ember of discord and using the youth as part of the plot to maintain their hold on the political scene.
His words: “Some of the elders in the state are behind the unfortunate situation; they are holding on tenaciously to power and engaging the youth in destructive acts for selfish reasons, instead of training them to take over the reins of government. My advice to them is to consider the future of the young ones and give the platform of taking over.”
