Dame Patience Jonathan has urged Nigerian women to start early preparations for the 2015 general elections so as to succeed in the contest for elective offices.
Mrs Jonathan who was speaking during the centenary celebration of the Nigerian Woman National Conference in Lagos on Thursday said, “I will advise women to prepare like the men when it comes to politics. They should start on time. There is no need for us to wait (until) when it is close to 2015; it should not be at that very time that we run and pick forms.
“We should prepare in time; we should start from now by going to our states, communities and homes to touch the grassroots.
“You have relate to the constituency you want to represent because you are from a community; you cannot live in the city (and) when it is time for election you run back home. Please, I will advice that we (women) start in time.”
She also used the occasion to appeal to the menfolk to support women just like Bill Clinton supported his wife, Hillary, when she sought public office.
She needs to be advised that the presidency is nt a family heritage. Her husband had & still having his time so he shd leave and allow another person to give his best since it is difficult for him
