The left knee injury which had kept Joseph Akpala out of action for seven week has given way for a hale and hearty knee. The Nigeria international and Werder Bremen striker is back to training with the German club after suffering a ligament tear injury in training in March.
The Jos- born star had been in Belgium receiving treatment and just returned back to Bremen on Sunday.
He trained on his own on Monday with a physio, Reinhard Schnittker.
“I went through a rehab programme in Belgium. Now I can work on individual elements on the pitch,” Akpala told the Werder Bremen official website.
“That was not easy for me. It was my first major injury. But the knee has been okay thus far in rehab. Now I have to be a little patient because I would like to return to the team as quickly as possible.”
