DanielThe Police in Ibeju Lekki have arrested a 25 year old petty trader – Sakirat Attah, for allegedly burning the face of her 6 year old son (names withheld) with a hot object for going into their neighbour’s home and licking their soup.

Apparently not satisfied with the punishment, Sakirat used a broken bottle to stab her son in the back of his head.

Sakirat, it is reported, took her son into their one room apartment after finding out what he had done and locked the door. She then lit a stove, put an iron spoon on it until it got red-hot and used it to burn his face and hands as punishment.

As if possessed by an evil spirit, Sakirat broke a bottle and stabbed her son in the head leaving him with a deep cut; his agonizing cries attracted neighbours who forced the door open and rescued him from his mother. They rushed him to a nearby hospital and invited the Police; the boy later told them that hunger led him to steal the soup.

Sakirat has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a one count charge of assaulting a minor occasioning bodily harm.

She’s currently cooling her heels in Kirikiri Prison pending when she meets her bail conditions.
