Nigeria’s Beach Soccer team began their campaign for a slot at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti on a high note in El Jadida, Morocco.

The Super- Sand Eagles thrashed their North African opponents 8-4 in their Group B second game played at the Mazagan Beach Resort in Morocco on Wednesday. The game is part of the ongoing FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualifiers taking place in Morocco, where Nigeria has been pitched alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt and Libya.

Team skipper Isiaka Olawale, Emmanuel Ogbonna, Abuh Azeez, Emmanuel Ewhoferhia and Emeka were all on target as the Adamu Ejor boys piped the Libyans convincingly.

The Nigerians announced their intentions earlier on in the game with a first minute Ogbonna strike, thereafter; Olawale silenced the North Africans with his hat- trick.

The Libyan’s attempted an unsuccessful comeback through Hani, Kharif and Shushan, but it was Owibesebe FC’s Ogbonna who put the game beyond their reach by completing his hat- trick, before Azeez’s goal came as the icing on the cake.

New boy Ewhoferhia didn’t fail to register his name on the scorer’s sheet as Nigeria continues her quest for a ticket at the Tahiti World Cup and third African crown when they face Egypt on Thursday evening at the same venue.

The Egyptian had failed to withstand the Ivoirians’ firepower, bowing to them 4-1 in their opening game.
