Nigeria’s midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi was forced off injured in the 1-1 draw against Namibia in the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Windhoek on Wednesday.

Onazi was replaced with Academica de Coimbra midfielder, John Ogu in the 71st minute of the proceedings when he could no longer continue after suffering a knock. He could miss out from featuring in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Super Eagles coordinator Emmanuel Attah disclosed that the 20-year-old Lazio midfielder’s condition is bad ahead of 2014 World Cup dress-rehearsal.

“One of our top players, Ogenyi Onazi left the game injured and it looks serious. So the possibility is high that he may not be part of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil,” Attah told Brilla FM.

However, the nature of Onazi’s injury was not mentioned as he is expected to undergo further checks from the team doctor on Thursday before the final confirmation is made.

Nigeria are in Group B of the Confederations Cup and will play Tahiti, Uruguay and Spain in the group stage of the 8-team tournament which kicks off on June 15.
