CBN Gov Bestows Traditional Title On Wife To Mark 25th Wedding Anniversary

20130811_132118-400x300Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Sunday conferred on his wife, Sadiya, a traditional title to mark their 25th wedding anniversary.

The investiture of the title of Giwar Dan Maje which took place at their Nassarawa GRA private residence in Kano on Sunday was witnessed by friends and well-wishers of the couple from far and near.

The occasion also attracted Hausa cultural musicians.

In a short speech at the occasion, Mr. Sanusi, who is the Dan Majen Kano (Son of Emir-Kano), revealed that Sadiya has been “a pillar of stability” on the home front, adding that “credit goes to this woman of blue blood, a pillar of peace.”

Explaining the choice of the title Giwar Dan-Maje, Lamido said that “in Hausa, Giwa means Elephant, but when applied metaphorically, it translates to strength and stability”.

The Kano-born prince, who showered encomiums on his heartthrob, was quick to add that “even those who had known us briefly will attest to the fact that Sadiya is pillar of strength”.

He disclosed that “the decision to confer this title on this woman of substance was a sign of gratitude for the positive role she has played in my life over the last twenty five years marriage.

Going down memory lane, the CBN Governor, who was recently alleged to have engaged in extra-marital affairs with an employee of the apex bank, recalled that “I married Sadiya 25 years ago during the silver jubilee of the revered emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero”, adding that “by next December it would be exactly 25 years of eventful wedlock.
