Pillars, who currently occupy the second spot of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table, were declared champions last season after their last day encounter with Sunshine Stars which they lost 1-2 in Akure.

The Sai Masugida is expected to be hosted by the governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at the government house on Tuesday at exactly 2pm, reports supersport.com.

“The governor of Kano State is happy and I can confirm to you that all the players and officials that campaigned with Kano Pillars last season will be rewarded with a car each on Tuesday at the government house,” Kano State sports commissioner, Professor Umar Jibril told supersport.com.

The Kano State club was recently involved in an auto crash on their way back to the state capital after their Federation Cup loss to Warri Wolves in Ilorin. Team coach Mohammed Ganaru and assistant Kabir Baleria were both seriously injured as a result of the accident.

The state’s sport commissioner said the faithful incident delayed the hosting of the Nigerian champions by the governor.

“We should have done this before the Ramadan celebration, but due to the brutal incidence that happened to Kano Pillars in Kaduna made us to postpone it,” Jibril added.

Leveled on 42 points with current leaders Enyimba, Pillars trail the Aba club on goal difference with an outstanding home tie against Akwa United.
