The England international has signed a three-year deal with Fulham and becomes the Cottagers’ eighth summer signing.

The move is thought to have been necessitated by the player’s need for first team football, which has been in doubt following the recruitment of Etienne Capoue and Paulinho at White hart Lane, and his desire to make Roy Hodgson’s squad for next year’s Brazil World Cup.

“He is a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball,” Fulham boss Martin Jol said.

“It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years.”

Following the procurement of Fulham by American billionaire Shahid Khan from former owner Mohammed El-Fayed, Parker becomes the latest change at the London club in a summer in which eight players exited the club.

“I’m delighted to be joining Fulham and I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates at training on Tuesday morning,” said Parker.

“Fulham are an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years.”

Championship side Queens Park Rangers had already agreed a fee with Tottenham for the midfielder but the move had been in doubt as to whether he would go down the hierarchy of English football.

Parker has won 18 caps for England since making his debut in 2003 and played in all the group matches of ‘The Three Lions’ in Euro 2012.
