Gombe, Set for the 2013 NOC’s AGM.

All is set for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria Olympic Commission (NOC) to be held in Gombe, the Gombe State capital on Thursday.

The meeting which takes place at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Gombe, would be hosted by the Executive Governor of the state, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

Sports Minister and Chairman of the Nigeria Sports Council (NSC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, will be special guest of honour while Director General of the NSC, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye will be special guest.

Presidents of the 36 states sports federations (including the FCT) and invited guests are expected at the AGM.

“The Governor is indeed delighted to be hosting the who-is-who in Nigerian sports and I think that we will come out with a position paper after the AGM,” president of the NOC, Engr. Sani Ndanusa told newsmen on Tuesday.

One of the issues on the front burner would be a presentation on anti-doping as Nigeria reiterates its zero tolerance on doping at any level of sports. Other issues include President’s report for 2012 and a paper tagged ‘From Grassroots to Podium’ among others.

Also, modalities on how to increase Nigeria’s podium appearances in the forthcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be tackled.
