Christmas Is A Period To Get Redemption – CAN

Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has said it was important for Nigerians to understand that Christmas is a period to get redemption.

In a statement by the Christian body in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, CAN said Christmas was “a time to show love to the less privileged, needy and the poor in the society”.

CAN further argued that “if the day we used to celebrate idols is now used to celebrate God, I think it is a good thing because idols do not own any day, all days are created by God”.

In his own message, the Dean Emeritus, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and the diocesan bishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Ephraim Ademowo appealed to Nigerians to look inwards this Christmas and pay clear attention to the original ecumenical spirituality of Christmas.

On his part, the presiding bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, Dr. Mike Okonkwo called on Christians to ensure that their relationship with Jesus Christ is intact, stressing that, it is not enough to rejoice in the fact that Jesus was born in a manger but it is also about emulating the worthy virtues He stood for while He walked on the face of the earth. Most especially, he said, it should be a time of extending love, peace, joy and goodwill to everyone.

  1. What got most religious people upset about X’ mass is just the way people celebrate it. Until the motive of X’mass being spell out of fashion. They focus on what to eat, drink, dressing, ceremonies of spiritual insignificant. Why won’t those who claim “over- righteous” X’tian without the power to change things not kick against it. Please, in whatever you do this period let’s christ be seeing in it. Together we can contribute in bringing REVIVAL into the world this day. Celebrate it with a purpose of showing someone the love yourself have from Jesus. Because you can only be judge by how you do what you do. So, be wise. Happy X’mass.
