2015: Traditional Rulers In Ebonyi Central Zone Endorse Gov. Elechi For Senate

martin_elechi_Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State has been endorsed by traditional rulers in Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, to run for the senatorial position of the zone in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.

The traditional rulers noted that the decision was taken after due consultation with relevant stakeholders in the various autonomous communities that make up the senatorial district.

In a communiqué issued by them weekend, the traditional rulers called on the people of the zone to work together to ensure the realization of Chief Elechi’s senatorial ambition come 2015.
It read in part: “That having conscientiously taken deep assessment and scrutiny of those we could consider for the senatorial position, we lack alternative option than to once more plead with Chief Martin Nwancho Elechi, our serving governor, to accept and represent Ebonyi Central senatorial zone in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2015.

“That as we, the traditional rulers, are not partisan politicians, we owe our subject the duty of providing them with impartial guide as it concerns leadership in the zone, to ensure that peace is sustained in our various communities.

“That the traditional rulers in Ebonyi State central zone are pleading with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to give Chief Martin Elechi the ticket for Ebonyi Central senatorial seat come 2015”.

They also hailed the leadership of Ebonyi Youth Assembly for its grassroots mobilization and youth empowerment schemes which had drastically reduced the rate of crime in the state.
