Property worth millions of Naira were destroyed when fire razed five buildings in two different parts of Lagos State, weekend.
While the first incident, which involved three buidlings, occured at Alhaja Owoade Street, Ketu, Alapere, the second was recorded at Arewa Street, Gaskiya, Ijora.
While the Alapere incident got prompt response from emergency responders, that of Ijora did not, as the officials were not alerted on time, as a result, the fire escalated.
Although no life was lost in both
incidents but fire fighters and other emergency responders were attacked by street urchins popularly called ‘area boys.’
Meanwhile, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has said officials were not alerted on time, which led to their late arrival to the scene. [Vanguard]
