Mata Confident Moyes Will Revive United

Juan Mata has backed David Moyes to revive Manchester United’s dwindling fortunes.

The Old Trafford club currently sits in seventh position on the table and are set to miss out on Champions League football until ‘probably’ August 2015.

“Even before I came, things were difficult here, so I knew I wasn’t coming to a side that was going to win, win and win,” said the 25-year-old Spaniard.

“But I knew that this club was going to come back and that the future was going to be bright.”

Moyes took over from the retired Sir Alex Ferguson last July, with the club fresh from winning a 20th league title.

The Scot has endured a difficult first season with the champions, now in line to finish out of the Premier League top-four for the first time since 1991.

But the midfielder, who joined United from Chelsea in January for £37.1m, says he expects a number of new signings to help rejuvenate the aging squad Moyes inherited.

“When I joined, in all my conversations with the board and the manager about next season, they were confident about getting the right players,” Mata told the Daily Mail.

“They know, and I know, we’re in a transitional moment, but in the summer they’re going to try to sign a few players and I have the faith they are going to bring top players in.

“I’m sure this club is going to come back and fight for every trophy.

“Since I was a kid, Manchester United was fighting for everything, This moment is going to come back for sure.

“It’s not just the manager, it’s not just the tactics, it’s all of us. It’s not the time to blame one person. We are all together in this.”
