Recuperating Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai will today depart the country for London, United Kingdom, for a scheduled medical checkup.

The governor was flown from Jalingo to Abuja, the nation’s capital in a Skyjet plane marked ZS-KBS Monday afternoon.

He was accompanied by his Chief Detail, Joel Danladi and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) Tino Dangana, who also survived the 2012 air crash with him, his Chief of Staff, Aminu Jika; his brother Babangida Suntai and other loyalists.

Speaking with The Nation, Suntai’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa disclosed that the governor will spend two weeks abroad before returning home.

“My doctors said I will spend two weeks for the checkup. But you know, that depends on the outcome of things and their (doctor’s) decision”, Suntai told reporters at the Jalingo Airport Monday.

Suntai fielded questions from reporters while alighting from an Escalade ESV jeep that drove him to the airport.

He also urged people of the state to continue to pray for his total recovery.

“Prayer is the most important thing I need as at now. The people have stood by me since the day I had this accident. They should continue in their prayers; their prayers have helped me tremendously,” he said.
