80th Birthday: Soyinka Is A Pride To Africa – Mark

wole soyinkaSenate President David Mark has congratulated Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka on his 80th birthday, describing him as a rare gem who has continued to touch lives and shape the future of younger generations.

The senate president, in a congratulatory message, noted that Soyinka as an international scholar and world citizen, brought pride and honour to Nigeria when he won the Nobel Laureate Prize in Literature in 1986.

“Professor Soyinka is a pride to Africa. His kinds are few. We cannot appreciate him enough. His intellectual prowess is equal to none. Many successful Nigerians passed through him. Many more would profit from his fountain of Knowledge and wisdom”, Senator Mark said.

“As the erudite Professor marks his birthday, I pray and wish him good health, peace and abundant wisdom to continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria”, he added.

Mark said the Senate and the entire National Assembly stand together in congratulating Prof. Soyinka, who he called a “son of Africa and a true citizen of the world”, on this special occasion of his birthday.
