Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday berated maverick politician, Senator Arthur Nzeribe, over his comments in the media that he would ensure that come 2015, the state will produce another governor.

This was contained in a press statement issued through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.

Okorocha, who is reportedly eyeing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2015, maintained determine who governs the state does not rest on Nzeribe or any other godfather.

Nzeribe, who hails from the state, was reported to have vowed to resist the re-election of Okorocha after he boasted that the Imo Government House will play host to another governor in 2015.

According to the statement, “When we read the report, we delayed responding to it to see whether the Oguta Imo State born politician would deny the report, or to say he was misquoted because we never expected an experienced politician like Chief Nzeribe to vow on who would become governor in the state in 2015 or who would not become governor in the state in 2015.

“The truth of the matter is that Chief Nzeribe has never in his politics supported any governorship candidate in Imo to the extent of that person winning election to become governor. And we are talking about when Chief Nzeribe was on the fast lane of Nigeria politics”, the statement read.
