General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) says he has recovered and would soon be back in the country after spending weeks in Germany where he went for medical care.

The former Military President was last month reported to have been rushed to Germany from his home in Minna, Niger State to receive treatment for a chronic back ailment for which he had had prior surgeries in Germany.

Babangida, who spoke with journalists on phone, while at Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu’s Tunga residence in Minna yesterday. “I am now well and will be back to Nigeria very soon”

“I miss all of you, I wish you all Barka de Sallah. I am better now and I will be back in few days’ time,” he said.

Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar was at the governor’s lodge to pay Sallah homage, the way he does annually, with IBB when the later called his phone to inform Nigerians he was ready to return home after receiving intensive care in Germany.

Several groups have been to Germany to visit the ailing former president, including a delegation sent last week by Governor Aliyu.
