Flying Eagles Sweat on Few Injury Concerns

Flying Eagles quartet of Taiwo Awonniyi, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Bernard Bubwa and Ifeanyi Matthew all face a race against fitness for Saturday’s final group game against Cote d’Ivoire.

2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) leading scorer with three goals Awoniyi is nursing a right knee problem he sustained during Wednesday’s win over Congo. The midfielder has been excused from training.

Ifeanyi Ifeanyi suffered a head injury which needed three stitches. Bernard Bulbwa picked up a shoulder injury and Ifeanyi Matthew has a thigh complaint.

“They could all be available for the match against Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday but we will take some precautions before then,” team Doctor Ozi Salami said.

First choice goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo is suspended from the final group game after receiving a straight red card for a professional foul against a Congo player on Wednesday.

He would have completed his one-match ban when Nigeria face their semi-final opponent next week.
