Police arraign man for alleged reckless driving in Abuja

Nigeria-PoliceThe police on Monday arraigned one Habib Lawal, 29, of kubwa, Abuja in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for alleged reckless driving.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Monday Akor, told the court that one Ibrahim Abdullahi of Aso Vila, came to Maitama Police Station on April 28 to report the case.

The prosecutor said that the accused drove a Toyota Camry with registration number BWR 96 AJ recklessly and hit a Mercedes Benz car with registration number TR 01 from behind.

He said that the Mercedes Benz car was damaged and N1.27 million was spent to effect repairs.

He said that the offence contravened Sections 28(1) cap 548 of Road Transport Act (RTA).

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.

The Senior Magistrate, Chukwuemeka Ubani, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case till May 26, for hearing (NAN)
