A Senator-elect for Sokoto South senatorial District, Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba, has revealed that they are throwing their weight behind Senator Bukola Saraki for the Senate Presidency in the 8th National Assembly because he has all it takes to occupy the position.
Danbaba also stated that there’s no way zoning could be wished away, adding that it is a constitutional issue, which talks about federal character to ensure minorities are well represented.
He said: “Senator Saraki has what it takes to become the Senate president. He is well exposed to the political terrain of Nigeria, others are just craving for positions”.
“We have over 75 senators (APC and PDP) who are behind Saraki”, he said, adding “we are still trying to convince others” and expressed confidence that the former Kwara Governor would emerge Senate president.
The senator-elect reviewed the tussle for the Senate leadership, describing it as a positive development for the nation’s democracy.
“In the past, senators were not given the opportunity of deciding on their leadership but imposed by people from outside. This time, we have decided we’re going to pick the person of our choice who can provide the leadership”, he stated.
