Iheanacho Scores, Assists As Man City Beat Roma on Penalties

Nigeria Under-20 striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored and provided an assist as Manchester City defeated AS Roma 5-4 on penalties in the International a Champions Cup pre-season tournament on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart saved Seydou Doumbia’s and Seydou Keita’s spot-kicks having converted an effort of his own to cap a historic day at the Melbourne Cricket Club in Australia.

Iheanacho provided the pass for Raheem Sterling’s first ever goal in Manchester City shirt in the third minute, but Bosnian Miralem Pjanic’s stunning long-range effort restored parity at the break.

The Flying Eagles forward needed six minutes to restore City’s 1-goal cushion, slotting coolly into Gaetano De Sanctis’ goal.

Adam Ljajic buried home a superb free-kick to force penalty shootouts, which the Premier League side won with Yaya Toure, Aleksandar Kolarov and Jesus Navas also making their efforts count.
